Oberheim DSX

The digital brain behind analog brilliance.
The Oberheim DSX is a pioneering digital polyphonic sequencer that brought unprecedented control and flexibility to analog synthesizers in the early 1980s. Designed to integrate seamlessly with Oberheim’s OB-series synths and DMX drum machines via the proprietary Parallel Buss, the DSX could also control up to eight additional analog synths through its CV/Gate outputs. With a capacity to store up to 6,000 notes across 10 sequences, each with 10 polyphonic tracks, it offered real-time recording, quantization, looping, and editing features that were groundbreaking for its time.

The DSX was part of Oberheim’s “The System,” a pre-MIDI integrated setup that allowed musicians to synchronize synthesizers and drum machines effortlessly, laying the groundwork for future digital music production systems.
