Roland System 100
101 – 102

Modular analog power – perfectly paired for sonic exploration.
The Roland System 100, made up of the Model 101 Synthesizer and Model 102 Expander, is a legendary semi-modular setup that blends classic analog warmth with deep creative control. The 101 provides a standalone monophonic synth with keyboard, oscillator, filter, and envelope—ideal for leads, basses, and effects. The 102 Expander adds a second VCO, extra envelope generator, LFO, noise source, and sample & hold—unlocking complex modulations, layered tones, and stereo textures when patched together.
At Rupert Street Recording, the 101/102 combo is a go-to for experimental synthesis, vintage electronic textures, and hands-on analog sound design. It’s a flexible, tactile instrument that rewards curiosity and delivers big, character-rich tone.

The Roland System 100 was used on early Human League and Depeche Mode recordings, and was a favorite tool of pioneering electronic artists shaping the synth-pop and industrial scenes of the late ’70s and early ’80s.
